A very enthusiastic lady who is interested in gardening and composting and initiated a drive in her community to manage their waste more responsibly.
In July 2010, Shraddha took on the task of converting her community of 24 resident families to "green citizens". She decided to personally invest in the Daily Dump community composting system of the Manthan for the entire community. This was a first for us at Daily Dump. We have never met a person who wants to take on the project for the benefit of the whole community on her own.
Shraddha arranged a big event for the inauguration and demonstrated to the residents how this product was to be used.
Each resident was given a green bin to collect their organic waste.
The maids of each home were to deposit the organic waste in one of the 2 Manthans placed at a convenient point in the premises.

Shraddha had taken on the task of maintaining these and transferring the half-done waste to Leave it Pots lined in one part of the garden.

On our recent visit, we found Shraddha had begun packing the ready compost in old "atta" packets; sensibly reusing this material that would otherwise reach the landfill.

Shraddha shared with us that currently only 4 - 6 homes use the Manthans regularly and are appreciative of Shraddha's ongoing commitment to reduce the waste sent to landfill from this community. Convincing all the residents and getting their full involvement and participation in this drive is not going to be an easy task but she remains undaunted!
Shraddha is determined and positive that she will gradually gain the complete support of all the residents to participate in this effort. She is also keen to spread the practice of composting outside her colony among other residents' associations too.
