112 tonnes of compost put back in soil from 2012 - 2019
Indian cities produce huge amounts of waste daily. Out of this at least 60% is organic waste. Research has shown that residences contribute 80% of this organic component. Each family of 4 using our composter produces at least 100 kgs of nutrients for soil, every year.
Each community of 25 homes produces at least 3000 kgs of nutrients for soil, every year. In addition if dry waste is kept separate from vegetable peels then recycling of other materials (technical nutrients) also become feasible. So homes become the agents of change and producers of nutrients instead of producers of poison.
We help complete the circular nutrition flow by feeding the mature compost back to soil - in and around the city and in peri urban farms for growing healthy food. Since this compost is made by citizens, we call it Citizen Compost!
Recent studies show how important compost is in the work of carbon sequestration - the locking of soil organic carbon, and keeping it away from the atmosphere; thereby reducing the effect of greenhouse gases.
In doing so, our work supports a circular economy where the living system of soil is regenerated and soil is used to mitigate climate change, by design.
Distributing compost to farmers to promote their agroforestry efforts
Daily Dump collaborates with a local community to help farmers adopt agro forestry, increase incomes and combat climate change.
Tree plantation using our citizen compost
An organic farm prepares its tree orchard and uses citizen compost to boost soil strength.
From Waste to Nutrition for Soil
Putting compost back into soil is the best way to close the loop of food waste and create organic food.
Feeding the Plants with nutrient rich compost
An organic farm using the citizen compost. Farmers value this material for its ability to regenerate soil.
Collecting, Sieving, Maturing and Transporting Nutrition
This process is challenging and most often costs of transportation make citizen compost purchase unattractive to farmers.
Compost as nutrition in fields
Top dressing by compost releases the nutrition slowly to the roots and is effective as mulch as well.
Compost is worth celebrating
We value compost and make sure we share the magic with everyone
We hand pick to remove the plastic from compost we collect from customers
We mature, sieve and take care of compost before sending it to farms
Collaborating with communities working with agro forestry, ensuring the farmers have access to compost
Daily Dump Compost being used in organic farms
Unloading compost at farms to regenerate the soil
Different ways our compost is used on farmlands
